Watch: Latest plans for White House ballroom revealed

Shalom Baranes, the architect working on the new East Wing ballroom, said the completed structure would match “exactly” the height of the White House.

Baranes presented the latest plans for a 90,000-square foot addition to members of the National Capital Planning Commission.

According to Baranes, the ballroom would feature roughly 40-foot ceilings and accommodate up to 1,000 seated guests.

He also mentioned that the project will include visitor access to the White House and make unspecified improvements to Lafayette Park across the street.
