Watch: Paraglider survives 500ft drop into ocean

Dramatic video shows a paraglider fall nearly 500ft (152m) into the into ocean at Riviera Beach in Palm Beach County, Florida on 9 January.

The Riviera Beach Police Department said the 52-year-old Pompano Beach man survived the incident, after his powered paraglider malfunctioned and crashed off Singer Island.

“The windward wayfarer was not injured and nearby beachgoers swam out to help him and his craft to shore. He lifted off from Ocean Cay Park in Jupiter and sailed south until the unplanned landing,” wrote the Riviera Beach Police Department.
