US is ‘gradually turning away’ from its allies, Macron says – video

The French president, Emmanuel Macron, said on Thursday the US was ‘breaking free from international rules, which it promoted until recently, whether it be trade, certain security matters or some forums’.

His comments came after Donald Trump ordered a military attack on Venezuela in which the country’s president, Nicolás Maduro, was captured. The US president has since renewed his call for the US to seize Greenland, a Danish territory – a move that would threaten European security and could mean the end of Nato
