The 56th season of 60 MINUTES reached over 100 million viewers, and the program has finished among Nielsen’s annual top 10 list for 24 seasons – a record never approached by another program. 60 MINUTES has been honored with almost every broadcast journalism award, including 25 Peabody awards for excellence in television broadcasting and more Emmys than any other primetime broadcast. 60 MINUTES was created in 1968 by Don Hewitt and premiered on CBS that September.
