Can Trump send National Guard troops to Chicago?

US President Donald Trump has suggested he will send National Guard troops to Chicago, saying “we’re going in”, when asked about a possible deployment.

The president has claimed crime is out of control in the city, even though FBI data shows the murder rate falling in recent years.

Trump has already deployed the National Guard to Washington DC – BBC Verify’s Nick Beake looks at whether he can do the same in Chicago.
