FMG Acquires Testimonial iQ for Advisor Reviews
FMG has acquired Testimonial iQ, an online reputation management platform for wealth management, and will rebrand it as FMG Testimonials. The acquisition integrates compliant testimonials, reviews, referrals and client feedback tools directly into FMG’s marketing platform.
The transaction was finalized in December and financial terms were not disclosed. FMG itself was acquired by the private equity firm GTCR from Aurora Capital Partners in July.
The combined platform is expected to help financial advisors appear in both local and Large Language Model online search results and help convert online visibility into organic growth. Specifically, Testimonial iQ has come to be known for helping advisors collect and manage client survey-driven testimonials and Google Reviews with required disclosures and compliance oversight.
The integration connects Google Review generation and local search insights with FMG’s local listing capabilities to help advisors monitor and improve their map and local rankings. Review and testimonial data will feed into FMG’s upcoming answer engine optimization solution, providing monitoring, alerts and reporting on how advisors appear across AI and answer engine searches.
FMG Testimonials will remain available as a standalone product with the same compliance workflows and will form part of FMG’s integrated marketing platform.
FMG has been investing in answer engine optimization to help advisors stay visible as AI platforms and zero-click search change how investors seek information. FMG websites automatically apply schema markup to FAQ sections, generate sitemaps and provide local listing tools.
Recent FMG research highlighted that AI tools increasingly rely on reviews and testimonials as third-party validation when recommending advisors. Only a small percentage of advisors currently utilize public testimonials, which can give early-adopter advisors a visibility advantage in AI search results according to the company.
FMG is used by more than 80,000 financial advisors and has made other notable acquisitions over the years including advisor marketing platform Twenty Over Ten and Vestorly, the content management engine provider to advisors, among others.
Advisor testimonials were prohibited prior to the SEC’s marketing rule going into effect in 2021 (which allowed advisors to solicit client reviews and recommendations and direct prospects to them). Since this regulatory shift, several similar platforms, or those with overlapping features, have come to market, including Wealthtender, Amplify Reviews and Indyfin (now part of WiserAdvisor), among others.
