NewEdge Capital Hires James Jesse as CEO

NewEdge Capital Group, the wealth management division of financial technology firm Edgeco Holdings, has named former Iconiq Capital president and Morgan Stanley executive James Jesse to the new position of chief executive officer.

Jesse joins the five-year-old NewEdge Capital after its strongest recruiting year to date in an effort that has grown its assets under management to more than $80 billion. NewEdge, based in Pittsburgh, is the parent firm of New Edge Advisors, an independent advisory platform that is ramping up its W-2 employee model, and New Edge Wealth, which focuses on the upper-high-net-worth, family office and institutional client segments.

Jesse will oversee the wealth division after serving as president of investment management and family office from 2017 to 2024 at Iconiq, an investment firm and family office that also manages $80 billion in client assets. Before that role, he had spent 17 years at Morgan Stanley, starting as an associate in fixed income and climbing the ranks to become global head of international wealth management.

NewEdge said hiring for a CEO represents its goal of further scaling operations. Co-founder and Managing Partner Alex Goss cited Jesse’s track record of working with fast-growing companies while maintaining a client focus.

“When we founded NewEdge, our goal was to create an independence-focused platform that could compete with the wirehouses on investment capabilities, while giving advisors true ownership,” Chuck Warden, co-chairman and founder, said in a statement. “James understands this model and will help us execute on that original vision at scale.”

Jesse joins Goss and Rob Sechan, also co-founder and managing partner, on the NewEdge Capital Group board of directors.

EdgeCo also owns AmericanTCS, which provides custody, trust and retirement services, as well as wealth management and technology software.
