Watch: President Trump pardons Thanksgiving turkey

During a ceremony in the White House Rose Garden on 25 November, Trump pardoned this year’s Thanksgiving turkeys, Waddle and Gobble.

During the televised pardon, Waddle, apparently, was nowhere to be found.

“Waddle, by the way, is missing in action, but that’s okay,” the president said.

The annual event is a White House tradition going back years when the US president pardons turkeys in the days before Thanksgiving, when roast turkey is typically served at dinner.

Waddle and Gobble spent the night before their big day in the presidential suite at the Willard InterContinental Hotel in Washington DC, where they generated a lot of interest from the DC press.

Trump last pardoned turkeys for Thanksgiving in 2020, when he saved Corn and Cob from the dinner table.
