Envestnet, Orion, Vestmark Expand CAIS Integrations
New York City-based alts platform CAIS announced expanded partnerships with three major wealthtech firms: Envestnet, Orion and Vestmark. The integrations will enable users to manage public and private assets in a more seamless experience.
The news comes about eight months after CAIS originally announced the capability to integrate with third-party TAMPs and managed account platforms. It announced the news during its annual conference, taking place this week in Los Angeles.
“As firms driving innovation in wealth technology, our partnerships with Envestnet, Orion and Vestmark advance how advisors manage total portfolios across public and private investments,” CAIS founder and CEO Matt Brown said in a statement. “CAIS is evolving into the market infrastructure and technology provider for alternative investments—powering technology, delivering product access, insights, third-party due diligence, education, and portfolio construction tools that form the foundation for the next generation of access to alts.”
The move comes amid an industry-wide effort to expand access to private markets and offer management of alternative investments alongside traditional ones.
According to CAIS, users will be able to manage the full lifecycle of the alternative investments and “reduce operational friction across onboarding, trade processing, fund administration and custodial connectivity” as well as access portfolio construction tools and analytics that support private market investments.
“The convergence of technology and alternative investments is redefining wealth management,” Dana D’Auria, co-chief investment officer and group president of Envestnet Solutions, said in a statement. “Incorporating CAIS’ alts capabilities into the Envestnet ecosystem through an advisor-traded sleeve gives advisors a single, connected platform to source, allocate, and oversee alternatives—transforming how portfolios are built and managed across asset classes.”
“Advisors are increasingly looking for ways to integrate alternative investments into their broader portfolio management process,” Orion Wealth Management President Ron Pruitt said in a statement. “Collaborating with CAIS helps us make that easier, connecting public and private investments within a single, streamlined experience that drives better efficiency, transparency, and outcomes for clients.”
“The integration of CAIS with Vestmark represents the next evolution in wealth management infrastructure,” Vestmark CEO Karl Roessner said in a statement. “By combining our tax-managed UMA infrastructure with CAIS’ access to private investments, we’re giving advisors a powerful, modern foundation to build fully diversified portfolios and operate more efficiently.”
The move adds to what has been an active year for CAIS. In addition to rolling out this enterprise solution, CAIS has rolled out a marketplace with multi-asset model portfolios.
In addition, in February, the firm named Tim Shannon and Brad Walker as co-presidents of the company.
The move also adds to moves by each of the three TAMPs to expand access to private markets.
In July, Vestmark announced the capability to add private market assets to tax-managed unified accounts. To develop the custodial accounts, Vestmark partnered with iCapital, asset manager BlackRock and RIA support platform Dynasty Financial Partners.
Meanwhile, in June, Envestnet partnered with Fidelity, BlackRock, Franklin Templeton and State Street Global Advisors to private market options for advisors, including managed models with semi-liquid alternatives and ETFs focusing on alternatives, through Envestnet’s UMA platform.
Orion first announced a partnership with CAIS in March 2024.
